Norman B. Barr Camp

So you can guess that I have not been in Orange, CT, I've been in Lake Geneva Wisconsin on holiday with cousins at Norman B. Barr Camp.  My cousins family has been going there for many years, the camp is in it's 104th season.  I went up as a kid and started going back to preach about 7 or 8 years ago at their lakeside Bowman Chapel.  The next few days will be posts around and on Lake Geneva.
Some of the cabins.  Whipoorwill, Sweetpea, and Ivy are my families cabins.
Trek down to the lake.  One must be in good condition, if not you will be by the end of the week.
The pavillion.
View from the pier.

  1. Ah the memories! Our names must be on that plaque.

  2. Suzanne, this place looks fantastic. It seems a lot like Rockywold Deephaven Camps, a collection of ~70 cabins on the northern shore of Squam Lake in north central New Hampshire. We went there for years when my kids were young and my daughter was married there last Labor Day weekend.

  4. You don't know me, but I stumbled on your blog by searching the camp by name. Our relatives have stayed there most of the summers for decades. First they had one of the cabins; then they were able to move into the rooms next to the hotel by the lake. They have been gracious enough to invite us up to spend a weekend every summer. Usually we rent rooms in the hotel, but it's not opening this summer. My question is if any of those cottages (like the ones you stayed in) could be rented out for a weekend, in our case Aug 6-8.
I could give the camp the names of our family members who are regulars, to vouch for us. Just a thought. If you don't mind, please let me know if you think this is at all possible at texley@sbcglobal.net.
