It does my explorer heart good to get away from the lake (Lake Geneva) and explore the countryside. My cousin likes to stay put so she let me take her car one afternoon to see the countryside. I thought I'd photograph some barns. What was I thinking? Well, I was expecting those tiny, quaint New England barns completely forgetting that I was in the middle of Wisconsin.

On the first day I took a very early morning walk from the camp down to Williams Bay, about four miles round trip. There is a shore path all around the lake which is about 23 miles. It takes about 8-10 hours to walk it but people do. The morning light and the silkiness of the water made it so rewarding to get these lazy bones out of bed.

So you can guess that I have not been in Orange, CT, I've been in Lake Geneva Wisconsin on holiday with cousins at Norman B. Barr Camp. My cousins family has been going there for many years, the camp is in it's 104th season. I went up as a kid and started going back to preach about 7 or 8 years ago at their lakeside Bowman Chapel. The next few days will be posts around and on Lake Geneva.

Takhomasak may sound like a Native American name but it isn't. It's the famous phrase from Steak 'n Shake encouraging you to take a sack of steakburgers home with you.Founded by Gus Belt in Normal, Illinois in 1934 and is still serving up steakburgers, chili, shakes, and more. I grew up on this stuff and if ever there was anything that would make me move back to St. Louis it would be Steak 'n Shake.

Today's Friday at the Feeder features a Grey Catbird. FINALLY a bird discovers that I've put out some oranges to peck away at. His primaries and tail feathers are quite beautiful in their span.
