This is an unfinished Blackburnian Warbler (hatch year male) model. I'm taking the class through the Connecticut Natural Science Illustrators of the Yale Peabody Museum in New Haven, CT.
Dorie the instructor has several of her bird models on display in the dioramas at the museum. Hopefully, if mine is good enough, it will end up there too!

ReplyDeleteGood post. I thought yours was a real bird until I realized you were painting it. I hope yours get shown also. MB
ReplyDeleteYa! You made this birdie?? How sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis beats drawing bugs, IMHO. LOL
You find the nicest things to study and do, Suzanne.
I painted, and am still painting the little warbler. The model was cast by a master taxidermist from the Yale Peabody Museum. Fun! Working on another bug thought Dina. Maybe someday I'll do a scorpion like the one in Darjat.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is some serious craft work, the painting is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI thought this was real at first glance. Nicely done!
