The City Daily Photo theme for the month of July is FACADE. This is the facade of Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Designed by Henry Ives Cobb, architect for the University of Chicago, and dedicated in October of 1897, this observatory houses a 40-inch refractor telescope - the largest of its kind in 1897. Money for the building came from transit tycoon Charles Tyson Yerkes who apparently was a VERY unlikeable guy. I've got many more details that I will show including the telescope over the next few days.
