Gargoyles and whatnot

Continuing on with yesterday's post of the facade of Yerkes Oberservatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin  I want to show you some close ups of the gargoyles that are on the outside of the building and on from the inside.  The place was lousy with them. 


 Entire observatory, to the right is where the 40 inch telescope is housed.  I'll post photos tomorrow of that.
 An owl that was inside the main, small rotunda.

Each of the heads had some folkloric story to go with it.  There were also a lot of zodiac signs.

    I like these gargoyles that are not TOO scary or grotesque.
