Always look up

One of the buildings along Central Park West is quite festooned with gargoyles.  It was a beautiful building on this grey day.  In the entrance way was one of the gargoyles just regally sitting greeting people.

Friday at the Feeder

While waiting on the platform for the 8:38 train to Grand Central I heard a bunch of chirping.  I looked at the bench and saw what looked like straw with some feathers.  I looked up and saw this next in the rafters.  The mother was busy flying about and very cautious of me.

MLK Night in NYC

Skyline of Midtown Manhattan.  You can see lots of buildings but most notably is the Chrysler Building to the left (shorter one with white lights in scalloped shape), and the Empire State Building (to the right of middle lit with black on the bottom, red in the middle, and green on the top).  It was lit in those colors for Martin Luther King Day and are the colors of the African American US Flag.

Like Day and Night

I went in to NYC on Monday to visit a friend who lives on Central Park West between 102 and 103rd Street.  She has a great view of Central Park and looking down to midtown.  I didn't take my 'big' camera but just a point and shoot so the photo below isn't great.  But you get what I mean.

Anything for a photograph, taken by Krista.

What a difference a day makes

So if you remember yesterday's post it was a photo of Wagner's Pond, a frozen puddle in ye old parsonage's back yard.  A day later Wagner's Pond thawed and with the rains it got larger.  I looked out and saw one of the children having some fun in it.  They are out in all sorts of weather just playing and exploring.  These photos were taken through a screened window from my office but I like the look it gives, sort of a painterly effect.

Wagner's Pond

The weather has been out of whack.  One day rain, then snow, then rain, then frigid temperatures...so I looked out one morning and saw that one of the huge rain puddles had frozen over on Saturday.  Remember the photo of the great flood of '14 in ye old parsonages backyard?  Same puddle. The children from next door had brought two chairs over, they must have tried skating on the frozen puddle but I didn't see them.  Quite imaginative children they are.

Friday at the Feeder

After I left Silver Sands State Park I went down to the Audubon Club at Milford Point...still in search for a Snowy Owl sighting.  Apparently they have had a couple.  The woman said they were sighted just on the other side of the breakwaters.  SO, on that very cold but sunny day I did some more walking way out.  It was low tide.  I looked in the brush, no snowy's.  So after about an hour I turned around because, well, by this time after the State Park and Audubon, I was cold.  As I was getting in the car I spotted this bird in the tree.  Not sure what it is but he was fairly good size.  Any guesses?

Seagulls

Still at Silver Sands State Park in Milford.  There were quite a few seagulls foraging the shore for food.  I love looking at the structure of the wings.  So perfect and beautiful.

Silver Sands State Park

Saturday was a stunning but cold day.  I needed material for OS so I grabbed my camera and went down to Silver Sands State Park in Milford in search of Snowy Owls.  Well I didn't find any but everything was just glistening.

It was really cold.

Grey and White Pizza Eater

I saw this streak of red from my office window and focused in on this squirrel who had found an entire slice of pizza.  It was almost as big as he was.  He looks like he is surfing doesn't he?
