Putting Green

Looks like some serious business being conducted on the putting green.

Marcia and Lisa selling tickets.  Both are on the CS & O Board and Lisa is the chairwoman.  The putting green was used for a putting contest.  The golfer pays $5 for three attempts to sink one putt.  If they make the putt they are entered into a a drawing for half of the funds raised by the contests $5 entry fee.

Higher Ground Golf Tournament

Over the next few days I'll be covering the Orange Congregational Church Annual Golf Tournament held at Orange Hills Country Club.  This year it took a new theme, Higher Ground, raising money for homeless veterans.  100% of the money raised goes to Columbus House in New Haven and the OCC Christian Service and Outreach Board who then gives it directly to other missions.

Here's Judy Ode.  The tournament began many years ago in her husband's name Paul, the Paul Ode Golf Tournament.  What's a church function without a raffle?  This year I happened to win on of the baskets!!!  That's a rarity.

Highfield Hall

This is Highfield Hall as it is today, restored and lovely.  You can read about the mansion's history HERE.  It was saved from the wrecking ball in 1994 and has undergone extensive reno's to make it what it is today.  It originally was one of the first summer home's on the Cape built by the Beebe family of Boston.  Today there are lovely gardens surrounding it and inside many of the rooms have been restored and numerous art collections are hung.
