Weavers and Dyers of Oaxaca

Over the next couple of days I'll feature a few the photos of the weavers and dyers from Oaxaca, Mexico.    In this remote part of Mexico there are 15 indigenous dyers that follow an ancient tradition of coloring hand spun thread from dye from the endangered Purpura Pansa sea snail, known for it's purple ink.  The thread is woven on backstrap looms, shown here, by women of the Tixinda Weaving Cooperative.  Four of these artisans were demonstrating their art at the New York Botanical Garden on Friday.

Great Mammal Hall

At the Harvard Museum of Natural History inside of the Great Mammal Hall.  I was up in the balcony viewing the Birds of the World exhibit.  I loved the feel and lighting of this room.  Nicely displayed.

Need a Locksmith

While walking on an overpass on Massachusetts Avenue in Boston I saw this fence with so many locks on it.  Each one was quite nice and I love the rust.

Boston Public Garden

The Public Garden was filled with people on this beautiful day in Boston.  Reading, making music, running, or just sitting everyone was have a nice time.  These photos of Boston aren't the best but they aren't bad, from my iPhone.

These girls were fabulous!  Classical quartet with their mother sitting close by.

She continues to blossom

Two days later the center of this gorgeous Dahlia continues to show her beauty.  I love the curly Q's.
