ABC Wednesday - C

Today is ABC Wednesday featuring the letter C.  My C entry this week is Chelsea Market on 9th Avenue between 15th and 16th Street on the West Side of Manhattan.  It's a stop on the High Line or at this point it's at the end since the High Line has one more section to open.

For the history of Chelsea Market click HERE.
And this is for free!  Another C brought to you by Citibank.  Another find when we departed the High Line.  If you want to see many more CUTE, CUNNING, AND CURIOUS CAPTURES of the letter C, please CLICK here.  Thank you Mrs. Nesbitt.

Construction on the High Line

These construction workers were oblivious to all of the walkers stopping to gawk and take photos.  I was struck by the wiring that is involved.

Sites on the High Line

It was fun to walk past all of these different buildings and apartments.  Some were so close to the walkway that the apartment dweller was eye to eye with the walkers.

Sailor Kissing Girl in Times Square

Amazing.  Fabulous.  The most stunning piece of graffiti that I've seen.  It's a copy of the 1945 photo featured in Life Magazine by Alfred Eisenstaedt.
The High Line is worth every step of the way.

The High Line

This is the summer of day-staycations and a friend and I walked the High Line in New York City.

"The High Line is a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is owned by the City of New York, and maintained and operated by Friends of the High Line. Founded in 1999 by community residents, Friends of the High Line fought for the High Line’s preservation and transformation at a time when the historic structure was under the threat of demolition. It is now the non-profit conservancy working with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to make sure the High Line is maintained as an extraordinary public space for all visitors to enjoy. In addition to overseeing maintenance, operations, and public programming for the park, Friends of the High Line works to raise the essential private funds to support more than 90 percent of the park’s annual operating budget, and to advocate for the preservation and transformation of the High Line at the Rail Yards, the third and final section of the historic structure, which runs between West 30th and West 34th Streets."*

Friday at the Feeder - Voguing

Well I know I said I was going to feature the High Line for the next few days but being that it's Friday I couldn't resist Friday at the Feeder.  This little guy sat there for quite a while.

Then he would flutter his wings.  I thought he was hurt but after a while he just flew away.

ABC Wednesday - B

Another early morning walk photo.  It's so peaceful in the early hours.  On this morning the haze was thick already and this BARN was just waiting to be awakened.  For more delightful images of B click on over to Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday.

Life Star

I was at Yale New Haven Hospital last week making a visitation to someone on the twelfth floor.  As I was waiting for the elevator I looked out to see Life Star, the helicopter transport.  They had just brought someone in for care.  These were taken with my Iphone through a dirty window but you get it all the same.  It was pretty remarkable to watch.

Ghost Photographers

This is it for the corner of East Street and Long Wharf!  Notice the three photographers in the center of the photo, the one in the middle, the ghost behind him and in front of him.

Another Angle

This is looking above at the construction on the I-95 overpass in New Haven.  The streams of light were from a passing by Semi-truck.

Friday at the Feeder

Bonus - Happy Birthday to my longest friend in the world, Cathy Jo.  Here we are in 1961 cooling off in my swimming pool on Delor Street in St. Louis, MO.  We met when we were two years old.

ABC Wednesday - A

Still taking the night photography class at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven.  Last week we went down to the corner of East Avenue and Long Wharf where the remnants of a carnival were packed up and ready to be hauled away.

Harold, my teacher, determined that I like ANGLES.
For more photo's of the letter A please follow the link to Mrs. Nesbitt's ABC Wednesday.

Self Portrait

The assignment was self portrait and glow.  Got it in one photo!  The glow on the tank in the background balances the gentle glow of the metal.

At the King's table

Snack time at Vacation Bible School in Orange.  The theme 'Kingdom Rock' was learning about God's kingdom through medieval times hence the knight's table with goblets!

Friday at the Feeder

So not every photograph comes out nicely but I wanted to show you that finally I've got some Hummingbirds at the feeder.

I have a whole new respect and regard for hummingbird photography.

Still taking the night photography class and two weeks ago we went down to Stoney Creek, a waterfront area in the City of Branford.  Very picturesque
